When was the last time The Beach Boys made an announcement like this?
New album and Tour with all original surviving mebers.
Maybe the 1976 Brian's Back campaign? Or the 1980 World Tour?
Seems like now things are being made much better than in those years and this announcement has no precedent.

I do hope so ! And I hope the boys will kick each other's a$$ and work really, really hard. They have to treat their voices with care and exercise at the same time. The Grammies go out lie and if they are about to sing live there they have to be in good shape. This will be the starting point and there's no way I could imagine what would happen if they fail that early. The tour will be hard for all of them and they have to keep an eye on their condition. There's a lot of work to be done. Thankfully Mike, Brian and Bruce are used to worldwide tours at this age

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.
