My Stuttgart tickets just arrived along with a used copy of Jon Stebbins' "The Real Beach Boy", what a day!  Afro  2012 is going to be a busy year with Beach Boys, Nazareth, Van Halen, KISS, Metallica & Johnny Clegg touring. Now the only thing missing is the Stones reuniting with Bill Wyman. (which they did at least for a jam session couple of weeks ago).

I've been thinking too that this may be the scenario Mike uses to retire.

I think Mike honestly loves being a performing Beach Boy too much to stop touring until health issues force it.

Mike will be performing till the day he croaks. And then long after that his ghost will still be chicken dancing in arenas all around the country.

Awesome, as I live close by in Virginia.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

Well, that's a scant 30 minutes away.  Holy crap.

(and by holy crap, I mean it's taking all my energy to not run around giggling like a crazy person.)

Fair to say there will be a July 4th show in DC?

It'd be my luck. Go to school in DC but be back home in NY  LOL

Ocean Way sounds like a terrible name to me for a number of reasons.

1) it's just not a catchy album title.
2) Ocean connotes a "fun and sun" album, which is what we (or at least I) don't want.
3) the phrase "Ocean Way" is meaningless if you don't know that it was the studio. are we trying to be like Abbey Road? Abbey Road was a great title for that album because of the Beatles' relationship with the studio. it's arguable that Abbey Road the album is the best of what Abbey Road Studios has to offer.

everyone records at ocean way. http://www.oceanwayrecording.com/albums.php

So, to recap, aside from the three confirmed dates, we also have the following reported shows:

Three Japanese dates in August...
Ocean City MD sometime in the summer...
Unspecified UK dates, according to Brian.

Just a thought for any Australia/ NZ shows. Main touring season for overseas acts is summer of course but I would not rule out Nov/ Dec. Brian has toured Australia twice in those months. Would fit any proposed outdoor shows.

Does not fit in with the idea it will all be over in August but I think the tour will be broken in to several sections.

Have just read this. Great promotion and write-up but just short on show details although must be coming soon.

Beach Boys Concert Tickets

After years out of the spotlight, “America’s Band” will return on a 50-date, 50th anniversary tour. Formed in America’s surf heartland in 1961, these California boys started honing their skills even further back in time in their own bedrooms where Brian Wilson led his brothers harmonizing on tracks. At age 16, Brian received a tape recorder for his birthday and begin experimenting with the layers upon layers of harmonies that would become the Beach Boys signature sound and thrill fans at Beach Boys concerts over the course of their legendary career.

From their first original single Surfing to their first paid gig, opening for Ike and Tina Turner, the Beach Boys seemed almost destined for greatness. Their groovin’ early singles like Little Deuce Coupe, I Get Around and Help Me, Rhonda only hint at the revolutionary greatness of their later albums Pet Sounds and Smile. Beach Boys tickets didn’t always feature Brian Wilson at the mic, but the daring, conceptual music he was creating back at the studio spoke volumes.

Despite legal debacles and in-fighting that threatened to sour their legacy, the Beach Boys have been named one of the greatest bands of all time and are members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Having survived the pitfalls of rock stardom, Beach Boys concert tickets for their 5oth anniversary reunion tour dates are back and Brian Wilson is once again working on a new Beach Boys album. Don’t miss this chance to see these living legends on Beach Boys tour dates 2012 in your area!

...and another. Forgot about Dave though.

The Beach Boys are one of the most eminent surf bands ever seen in the history of American music. They were the creators of Californian rock and their innovation in music has taken them leap and bounds in popularity. Their lush songs made them one of the top selling national acts. They were the only ones in the pop industry who could endure the Beatles mania.  Rolling Stone hails their songs as the “Teenage Symphonies to God”. The current band members Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and Brian Wilson have been successful in keeping the succulent singing of the band alive even after four decades in music.

The Beach Boys, in their earlier years, were popular for their narrow range arrangements and Southern Californian lyrics. They produced catchy and smooth harmonies with a perfect mix of guitars and vocals. The idea of romance, cars and surfing prevailed in the Southern Californian youth culture at that time and their lyrics showcased that perfectly. The songs fanaticized this West Coast teen’s idea of pretty girls, long drives and beach surfing.  This combination of closed harmonies and lyrics has given The Beach Boys a unique sound. Their signature sound has given them an individuality hardly achieved by any other pop band around. They have also been inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame.

The initial band lineup consisted of Wilson brothers trio; Brian, Carl and Dennis along with their cousin brother Mike Love and their close friend Al Jardine. Their inventiveness in music has made them “America’s Band”. Allmusic has declared that they are the nation’s first best rock band. They are one of the top artists to be in the Greatest Artists of All Times list by the Rolling Stones. They are also the best selling American band of all times. In the younger days Wilsons have seen their father Murray Wilson play music and this was their primary inspiration to pursue music as a career. Murray himself was a struggling artist with limited success in his career. In the beginning Murray was involved in the decisions of the band but later conflicts arose and they parted ways.

The Beach Boys musical accord has evolved over the years but the core of the band still remain the same. The Beach boys have come up with twenty nine studio albums. Beach boys have also released numerous successful singles in their career. Their most popular singles include Surfer Girl, Little Deuce Coupe, Pet Sounds and Kokomo. The Beach Boys’ Live albums and EPs have also been quite popular such as Beach Boys Concert, Live in London, The Beach Boys in Concert , Good Timin': Live at Knebworth England  and Four by The Beach Boys.

The Beach Boys have been the pioneers of southern Californian rock music. They have truly been the legends of surf pop. The fun loving summery exuberance of their songs is utterly refreshing. The band has moved on from where it stated with a lot of new additions to the band line up but the core of the band remains breezy and refreshing like always. The live performances of Beach boys are a one big party with funky music and excitement. The band has been performing live at various music fairs and concerts. To be honest it is all probably going well behind the scenes. The band and/ or its management will name its terms and send it to prospective promoters. It is up to them to crunch the numbers and decide if they can get the venues and turn a profit. That will be happening now I expect.

The Beach Boys probably have little or no input into putting the 2012 tour together.

My rationale is, one run through. Split into sections, one or more participants might have the time to think "do I really want to do this ?". Of course, based on (recently) past events, there's a faction here that would immediately assume I have some kind of inside track on this. This amuses me no end.  Smiley

LOL!!! well that really depends what you mean by "worked". It definitely didn't make the music very good. And considering what the Beach Boys self titled album was, maybe they'd better not go for self titled  Air Quotes

Still no more North American dates? Only in MD?  Sad

By the way, does anyone else in the board live in Montreal? Or the closest possible to Montreal? Just in case there's a concert in NY, Toronto or sth, it would be great to meet someone there  Smiley
