I hope that Brian will actually sing background parts when he's not doing lead.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Been doing some basic math (only kind I have). Tour starts April 27th, lasts 50 dates, so the earliest it could finish is June 16th or so... but of course they won't be playing a show every day. Say... five shows a week, so 10 weeks, which brings us up to about July 6th. But don't forget the TV/radio/promo appearances, and maybe five gigs a week is a bit steep. Say four, plus travel for the non-American shows... I'd say, based purely on my unsupported assumptions and counting on my fingers, it'll be done by mid-August - oddly, the date the London Olympics close. Maybe Alan's on to something.  Grin

Of course, the biggest 'if' is my assuming that the tour is going to be uninterrupted. If not, say if it's done in two or more blocks, then forget what I'm theorising and look to it stretching into the fall. But Mike & Bruce do 50-show stints without batting an eyelid, and Brian's no stranger to such a schedule either. Were I a betting man, I'd lay a small sum on the tour being done by the end of August. August 2012, that is.

The other "what if" I'm not considering is a Monkees/Springfield scenario. Don't want to think about that.

Thanks Andrew -

I must admit that I was apprehensive at first... hey, can't even find my post anymore that proves it, and all the better for it too, let it sink away in the troughs of deep cyberspace.

It's an absolutely great prospect. That reunion, a new album, and a career-spanning box set... hopefully tons of rarities will be included.

Amazing.

Apparently Mike and Bruce plan to squeeze four or five casino gigs in each morning and afternoon before the Beach Boys evening gigs.... Wink

Saw this earlier... Really puzzled about this "sacrificing careers" stuff. Does it mean Postcards has  even delayed yet again, again?

Lol, agreed, John. If anything, he can get his career back.

My guess: BWRG and ITKoD are far more Brian Wilson productions than next year's record will ever be.

(Doesn't mean it will be bad, mind you. But until I see someone explicitly denying that Joe Thomas is part of this, I suspect he's still involved.)

Yes, hence the speech marks, it's always nice to see it in print though, and if it shifts a few more units, what's the harm?
