I recently had the opportunity to go through a lot of old 60s copies of Melody Maker, a weekly British music newspaper that was first published in the 20s and eventually merged with New Musical Express in 2000. Reading through the copies resulted in quite a few nice articles that I thought I'd share with you guys. I've checked Steve Mayo's superb & extensive 'Beach Boys Magazine scans' thread from a while back and it seems that none of the following Melody Maker clippings have been featured there.

Seeing that the majority of scans in that thread are from the 70s and onwards I decided to make a new thread for these 60s MM clippings...

Sadly, I didn't have access to copies from before 1965 and quite a few copies were missing from that year. However, I did have all copies from 1966 and 1967 to look through.

You should be able to right-click these, save them onto your computer, open the scans in a photo editing program and zoom in to read the articles...

Ok, let's start off with the first one. 'Beach Boys Blast' / MM, March 19, 1966. Enjoy!

Kind of stunned that I'm the first person to thank you for doing this! I've been wanting to read a few of these for a long time now, so I have to say thanks so much for taking the time to share!

The Al interview sure has some interesting quotes on what he thinks of "negroes."
