I was thinking about how the Beatles didn't have a private life. Especially when they toured the United States. They couldn't go anywhere without being mobbed. I'm sure this died down somewhat after they quit touring.

So it made me wonder about the Beach Boys. I know the individual popularity didn't match the group popularity, but what kind of private life did they have in 63-66? It seemed like they could walk the streets without being constantly mobbed by large crowds and have a decent private life. Is this accurate?

I'm sure it wasn't like The Beatles exactly, but I am sure when it was known they were in town they had to deal with there share of crowds. When they went to the U.K. in 1966 I bet it was close to Beatlemania to some degree.

Although, the footage I have of them shopping around England in 1966, they weren't being mobbed at all. Then again, it may have been while the kids were at school. But still, I doubt the Beatles, or many other bands as big as the Beach Boys, had that much space.
