Compare UK chart peaks of Beach Boys albums (of original material) since 1970:

Sunflower 29, Surf's Up 15, Carl/Passions 25, Holland 20, 15 Big Ones 31, Love You 28, LA 32, KTSA 54, Beach Boys 60, Smile Sessions 25

ergo this is the highest peak since Holland.

Are we sure the sales were just for the 2CD version ? Maybe they added in the box and download sales.

Boxes normally chart separately (e.g. The Beatles mono and stereo boxes released on 9/9/09). Not sure about downloads.

There are no other versions of Smile in the Top 200. An album that reaches #200 in November sells around 1000 copies. This leaves 2 possibilities:

1) The 5CD set sold less than 1000.

2) The 8117 figure includes the 5CD set.

Unless you count solo albums...BWPS peaked at #7...Dennis' POB/Legacy peaked at #16.

Dennis' POB peaked at #5 in Norway's official album charts and stayed in the top 10 for 2 weeks (2nd week #9) and top 100 for 11 weeks (lowest position #35). I think it's interesting that Dennis was/is so big in Norway, I mean, why Norway?

Haha - yes, why Norway - TSS debuted on #13 this week - above Pink Floyd which has always been huge here - the Beach Boys never really were. Until 2004 - BWPS sold amazingly 12 ooo copies here - so where did all the norwegians fans come from during the last 6-7years? - they surely weren't there when I grew up - digging the Beach Boys in this country has always been a lonely road travelling Smiley

This freaks me out. I've never really met a BB fan here in Sweden, besides my close friends, and I always thought that other countries were more BB friendly. But I guess it has to do with the reviews Smile has gotten here.

Very good call. I met Markus after a BWPS show in Feb 2004, at a get-together where many diehards had found each other, as well as the nucleus of the touring band, including Darian; and all of the Stockholm Strings and Horns (IIRC).  And our own AGD was there.

R.I.P. Markus Sandlund.

Oh we're here alright. I've been to a couple of fan get-togethers before BW shows (Stockholm and Gothenburg) so there are more of us.  Smiley Also, there was that nice summer of 2010 when a friend of mine, and poster on this very site, went through with the idea to arrange two BB concerts in Sweden ...

But number 9? That's really cool.
