Well, I think it could be Lyle, which would match the 6/16/66 personnel.  Will have to listen for pick sounds, I guess.

Could one of the Fender Basses be Brian's white touring bass, plus the other more Sunburst one that we from time to time?

Brian's touring bass ? In summer 1966 ?

Well, I don't know what else to call it--Brian's former touring bass, I guess.  The classic white one.  Fender products last a long time, you know.  All I mean is that it's the one that went around with Brian when he did that sort of thing.

This one:

Maybe this is the other one, which they probably had laying around, still:

I thought he was always somewhat... oh, craggier.

Why is this, like, the greatest thing I've ever seen? Is my life that mundane, or is this clip that tremendous?

It's like watching Beethoven showing his percussionist how he wants it played. It's that tremendous.

Doubt it's Knechtel.

Interesting how tiny Hal's sticks are...I knew he used small ones and even tried to get my hands on his "signature sticks" a few times, but seeing them in action is neat--holding them upside down and choking up a bit.  Magnificent stuff.

If I am reading Brian's lips correctly on the Hal Blaine snippet, he is counting in 3/4 beat.

Is it just me or are Chuck and Brian [especially in the giffed snip] playing to the camera big time?

I've been trying to sync the audio from 6/16/66 with the clips to no avail for a few hours now--can't quite find anything that matches up though I am hampered by the lack of good software.

I think we're talking track 16 disc 5 here.  He asks for Carl and Lyle, and they play quarter notes together, with the String Bass sounding pretty gosh darn picky to me.  I think I'm narrowing it down here...

I'd say definitely not. It's a straight four-beat that both Brian and Hal are grooving to. Pretty clearly.

I don't know what you mean by "good" software but I'd be more than happy to take your guesses and line 'em up in Logic/Pro Tools/Final Cut.

Sorry, I zoomed into Brian's face to try and catch what he is saying. He is definitely moving in a straight 4/4. Can anyone try and figure out what he is saying??

what if the footage of brian doing the "im peekin up" really is from the first vocal session?

what if they accidentally videotaped the lost opening line sung right before "...she's already working on my brain"?

Wow! The bit with Brian vocalizing the chords is bang on - just needs a bit of tighter synch. Same as the Hal Blaine bit. Amazing stuff. If they are planning a DVD release I hope they use your synch up and credit you Talahrama.
