It's the last segment of the last half-hour (before they toss to 'local news') - I'd start watching around :40 or :45 past the last hour of the show.

CBS seems to be slow in posting their clips - I'd keep checking back. Hopefully they'll see fit to post it in between all the Kardashian divorce news...

They may not post it at all - apparently everything outside the interviews is considered "restricted" - meaning CBS affiliates can't source it for their own use.  I imagine that might keep it from showing up on their site, but I'm really hoping that I'm wrong.

I'm hoping that's not the case - NBC posts almost all of their morning show segments that same day, within hours of the broadcast. Notice CBS has the political news and Justin Timberlake footage readily available.

Idea: Let's flood them with emails respectfully asking them to post the Smile segment. I'll do it this morning while I can. If they get dozens of people requesting something, it means more ad revenue and network types love that kind of sh*t. Go to the CBS website and email away, it can't hurt.

Good thinking!

Well, I recorded it on the DVR. How do I get it off there onto a DVD?

Awesome! I'd wait to see if it's reposted on CBS' website to save you the trouble, but it should be a case of connecting a DVD recorder's inputs to your DVR's outputs to capture the video/audio. At least it should be that easy, if not I don't know.

CBS just put some of the story up for affiliate use, but...

Quote
Producer note: this edit contains only the interview SOTs and some B-Roll of
Brian Wilson playing.

Archival material & performance video was restricted.

...BRI might not allow the footage to be posted up on the CBS website.  They certainly aren't allowing it to hit air anywhere outside of that one segment.

I hope that's not the case, I have an email in to them already and I hope others do as well. No reason not to post it on the Early Show web stream. They don't seem to have an issue posting Timberlake's segment, though... Cheesy

It's a Motorola DCH3414. Does that help?

I guess we will see that footage during the SMiLE podcast.

I read there was also Brian showing Hal Blaine how to play the drums for a laugh...

I have it captured digitally (and the footage was great, Brian at the console and actually interacting with the Wrecking Crew!!!). If this doesn't become available online, I can rip it but I may become very distracted during the immediate future (this afternoon, in fact...  Grin). PM me in a few days if there's a need.

Also, the Brian interview is not bad. Some of the predictable answers about drugs and being "too advanced" are there but there are some nice moments as well, especially his touching answer to a question about music and spirituality, and his humility and respect regarding the Beatles and Paul McCartney. The interviewer and male anchor are both clearly fans, and probably helped make this happen (let's face it, the US media isn't exactly falling over themselves to cover this thing compared to the dear old UK). So, I tip my hat to the CBS early show for covering this, but sitting through the endless segments on the Kardashians and various Republicans running for office was fairly excruciating.

I'm at work right now and the box will be waiting for me when I get home, but I promise I will make this available if it's still not online by the weekend.

Phew!  That's a relief. I'd hate to think I was the only one that had it; think of all the pressure, trying to figure how to copy it over...

Yeah, I was kinda of shocked at how boldly he said, "DRUGS".

Of course with a mass media presentation The Beatles have to be mentioned. They played a bit of "Let it Be".

Yes! When they mentioned spirituality my girlfriend, who isn't at all as excited as me, took notice. She asked what that music was... I told her, a little intro to the album... "Our Prayer" was playing. She wants to listen to the album now since its got spirituality-street cred now!  LOL
