Awesome work on the Wild Honey mix. Yeah hopefully with the Smile blitz we'll get a few more releases, we really do need releases befitting the bands stature, the two-fers are acceptable but I'd love to have a really clean mix of Today, Smiley Smile, etc etc.

Now there's a song that could do with a complete make-over. What about a disco beat, layered harmonies by others, jiggling strings…

They should simply try to have mono and stereo versions of each album through the late 60's as many other bands from that era have put out on CD such as The Beatles and The Hollies (also EMI acts).

Something like this:
Surfer Girl CD with entire album in stereo and mono, plus bonus tracks, and Surfer Girl album session tracks

Maybe instead of releasing the singles like Be True To Your School on the CDs with the albums, they could have a compilation of the singles in mono/stereo plus sessions for those tracks.

bump

...any chance of this happening this year/ever? what prevented its release, while lesser albums (all of them) made the cut?? I don't get it.

didn't linett himself say that the vocal tracks really weren't there 'cos the guys would just record right over the parts that had been sub-mixed down to mono before the rest of the vocals were added? (if that makes sense at all)

They could always extract the vocals from the sub-mono mixdown though, right? I'm no audio engineering aficionado, but I'd assume that extracting the vocals from those tracks wouldn't be more difficult than what our good Irish friend had to do for "Good Vibrations". If the four/five tracks that suffer from this problem can sound as good as "Good Vibes" does, I don't really have a problem with the extraction route being taken.

I doubt it will happen in the near future. The Wild Honey Mark was talking about was probably the mix that appeared on the 50 big ones set.
