It's times like these that make you sit back and marvel at the world. They were just a group of kids. Who knew that 50 years later we'd even know their names, let alone still be talking about them. Was it just dumb luck? Was it their talent alone that made them hugely popular? Was it all the hard work that Murry did for them? Or was it....fate?

"Lavender" & "Surfin'" (the recordings are on Lost & Found ['61-'62])
plus one from several possibilities, to my mind including:
"Their Hearts Were Full of Spring" "The Wreck Of the Hesperus" "Rio Grande" (not that one, silly… Bruce Morgan's tune) "Sloop John B" "Luau" (not sure of the writing date for that)

All roads lead to Kokomo. Exhaustive research in time travel has conclusively proven that there is no alternate universe WITHOUT Kokomo. It would've happened regardless.
What is this "life" thing you speak of ?
Syncopate it? In front of all these people?!

Mike and Brian should call each other and talk about this historic day.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

Do we know who did the vocal arrangement on Luau ? Was it done on the spot or maybe at home by Brian ?

... The Pendletones performed three songs in Hite Morgan's front room. The rest, as they say, is history.
Hite threw back drink after drink as the teenaged Californian surfer boys, The Pendletones, writhed in their skin tight white pants and striped shirts each looking more boyish than the other. His mouth was open with his lower jaw jutted out and his chin tucked into his chest. His eyes were desirous and intense as they looked upwards at an angle stressing the devilish formation of his brow. The boys felt objectified but were no strangers to the perverse glances of relative strangers. Murry had told them about Hite. Yeah surfin safari yeah surfin safari yeah surfin sagari.
