Just had this e-mail from UNCUT - something's missing

Good afternoon, I hope you're all having a good start to the week. Inevitably, the weekend was overshadowed by the developing story in Norway and also the news of Amy Winehouse's death, which broke late on Saturday afternoon. Our thoughts are with the families of the bereaved.

In other matters, I should let you know about the next issue of Uncut, which goes on sale this coming Friday, July 29. It's a typically busy edition of the magazine, leading with David Cavanagh's brilliant cover story on The Doors' LA Woman album and the band's subsequent attempts to carry on after Jim Morrison's death. For his story, David's spoken to surviving Doors Ray Manzarek, John Densmore and Robby Krieger, as well as members of the band's inner circle - manager Bill Siddons, Elektra records boss Jac Holzman and the album's producer Bruce Botnick. Elsewhere in the issue, Bud Scoppa visits Lindsey Buckingham at his home in Los Angeles, Andrew Mueller hitches a ride to Chicago with the Jayhawks, John Robinson untangles the extraordinary history of Yes and David Quantick revisits The Old Grey Whistle Test with Bob Harris on the eve of the show's 40th birthday.

In our franchises, Stephen Malkmus answers questions on everything from the Pavement reunion to his highest word score in Scrabble in An Audience With…, the members of the Dead Kennedys talk us through the making of US punk classic "Holiday In Cambodia" and we speak to the musicians who played on Miles Davis' key records for our Album By Album feature.

The reviews pages, too, are especially busy. There are new releases from Uncut Music Award winners Tinariwen, office favourites War On Drugs, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Glen Campbell and Beirut. There's also a career-spanning Patti Smith compilation and the final recordings from Screaming Trees, plus reissues from Neutral Milk Hotel, Gene Clark, Grandaddy and plenty more.

Among this month's film releases we review JJ Abrams' sci-fi drama Super 8 and Pedro Almodóvar's The Skin I Live In. In DVD we revisit Anthony Newley's cult TV series The Strange World Of Gurney Slade, while in Music DVD Rob Young continues his journey into Electric Eden with a review of Here's To The Health Of The Barley Mow, a fascinating collection of British folkloric documentaries and short films.

All you need to do to get Uncut on your iPad, laptop or home computer is sign up by following this link: gb.zinio.com

Anyway, that's about it from me. Have a good week.

Cheers.

The email as pasted in your message is not related to the Beach Boys, therefore it does not belong in General On Topic Discussions.
