Why, the soundtrack to Casual Sex, of course!

When my wife put on this movie the other night, I almost fell out of my seat to see, emblazoned across the screen during the opening credits, "Soundtrack by Van Dyke Parks." Still, that wasn't enough to keep me in the room to actually watch the movie. I hate fluffy "teens needing to get laid" kind of films, generally, and this seemed to be that kind of a movie.

Anyone familiar with this film and its soundtrack?

I wasn't aware of the "Casual Sex" credit, but Parks did compose the score to the "Barney" movie a few years ago...then asked for his name to be removed from the credits!

VDP is a writer and arranger.  I guess if there's a job, he's willing to do it.  I've seen VDP credits all over the place both as writer, arranger, and session musician.  Some times it's art, and at times it's a job.

VDP has done a lot of 'interesting' work in his career but he is a musician and arranger by profession so his diverse body of work isn't that surprising.

Nancy Sinatra was doing an interview on BBC Radio 2 yesterday and she was talking about the song 'Something Stupid'. She also mentioned that Carson Parks passed away in 2005, which I hadn't heard.
