In defense of Mike... the Wilson side of cheap labels isn't any better at all..

Support my current wife label... aka BriMel Records

I would say before the summer is out a announcement will be made for a 50th tour with a grand back-drop such as the White House or the Hollywood sign. The worlds media will click away of course and Michael will step forward to give details while the rest of the band mill about. It will be great!!!

But the problem to me is.....that band is the Rolling Stones!

The Beach Boys 50th Tour 1961-2012.  Do the math!

Better get a move on guys before you are upstaged! Embarrassed

Oh...and the line-up? Emotion aside its pure business. Nothing to do with who is the best or who should be there. It will be the band that has been touring under the name for the last 13 years and the one that will continue after the 50th blows past. No brainer...Mikes. Get over it people.

I'm not so sure I believe that Brian is gonna jump back into working with Mike Love unless he has some buddies like Darian and Foskett up there with him. So maybe it won't be the whole BW band, but I doubt you'll just be plugging BW into the Mike Love band. I am somewhat interested to see in which way Brian would perform with this band. Are they gonna put him next to Mike in the front with Brian sitting at his unplugged keyboard. Or are they gonna put him to the side with grand piano?

I hope Brian is not inferring that David Marks wouldn't be included.

I finds it ironic that David, these days, is the most creative guy of them all.

You are kidding - right?

I hope he does not do it, i can see one show but not a tour. Mike is not the guy for Brian to be around, itīs like putting him in a session with Murray. I kind of see Brian as a expensive statue that some one dropped and people are finally gluing it back together to resemble something that looks like to old statue.  Its fragile, it needs to be handled with gentle hands.

In a way i sometimes feel that the end of the 90īs has been a big reprise of the Brian is back campaign. You can see the man is not well, he has absolute terror in his eyes every tenth second and he does always take the easy way out. He hates doing interviews, he has severe stage fright and he does not like to travel, his voice is a shred live of what it once was and you can see it bugs him every time live. He forgets his lyrics and sings off key live.

Donīt get me wrong i love all the music we received so far but as Van Dyke says it is at someones expense and who but not Brian? I watched the SMiLE documentary for the millionth time yesterday and cant help but thinking about it. He ended up in a hospital, he didn't enjoy the vocal rehearsal, he was scared to death of the music. The only time you can see him really living up is when talking about pot.

So i guess the question is when are they going to leave the poor guy alone and just let him eat what he wants and smoke pot?

Hey, The Beach Boys with Dennis & Carl didn't have french horns or any horns for that matter at most of the shows that I attended. Some years they did have a horn section. Point being, is that if horns are desired, they can hire a horn section for the anniversary shows.

And what do you mean that they are not up to it? Another Brianista is out today! Wink

Pleased to be out  Afro

Horns - the trouble is they are not just any old horns - they are Brian Wilson horns and so different to most horn charts you will ever see with other bands

Hire chart reading horn blowers, then. Geez, you act like Brian's band is the only band that can play Brian's music. Professional musicians adapt. They will rehearse before the tour begins. Hey, re-hire the Stockholm Horns & Strings again.

Oh Brian
Thou Art In Hawthorne,
Harmonied Be Thy name

Your Steak Well Done,
On Stage As It Is In Studio,

And Forgive Us Our Bootlegs,

And Lead Us Not Into Kokomo,
But Deliver Us From Mike Love.

One is eight days earlier then the other.   Grin

12/23 was the first time the band performed in front of an audience that wasn't composed of Morgans, Wilsons, Loves, Marks' & Jardines. Two songs during the interval of a Dick Dale show. 12/31 wasn't even the 2nd live show they did.

Shows & sessions 1961/62

Thanks! Was just wondering why the group has always used that New Year's Eve show as their anniversary date when as you pointed out they did perform 2 times before.

Because we have better memories than they do.  Grin

Let's not forget that during 1980-81 Al would often introduce School Days as a Brian composition. Great compliment for sure, but factually inaccurate. Smiley
