I find it interesting that "Surf's Up" and "Well, Your Welcome" (sic) are on the same reel. It does lend a bit of credibility to the theory that "You're Welcome" may have been envisioned as a sort of coda to a Surf's Up finale.

It might be due to the fact that both songs were recorded on the same day...15 December I thought.

Talk about the Holy Grail of music right there. They need to put these tapes in a bunker in case of disaster.

I thought there was absolutely NO evidence for You're Welcome being on SMiLE at all - that it was recorded as a B-side to H&V, and was never for the album? Correct me if I'm adrift on that...
I have never understood the idea that it was to END the album at all anyway. What kind of person welcomes somebody when an event is over? Or indeed, mentions that participants are 'welcome to come' when everything is already finished? (No naughty comments, please...!)
Saying that, I have done SMiLE mixes where YW sat at the top of Side 2, before Good Vibrations, acting as a sort of uncredited intro before the side proper gets going, like Prayer on Side 1. After all, the lyrics are welcoming you to an event...
But at the END...? Where *did* that idea originate? Mr Priore, was it?

@Matt
I always assumed it was "You're Welcome" in the sense that the listener has had an enjoyable time and The Beach Boys were saying "stop back anytime you want". Too presumptions on the Boy's part?

I don't think that there's any evidence that You're Welcome was originally intended as the B-side for H&V in 12/66. If it had been so intended, then why work on a double-sided H&V in early '67?
Consider that the one of the last lines of "Surf's Up" is "Come about hard and join the young and often spring you gave."
"You're Welcome to come" might be seen as an invitation to "come" along and join in the child-like way of looking at the world that Brian seems to be promoting with Smile.
Of course, "you're welcome" also has the more obvious meaning as the standard response to "thank you." At the end of the album, the listeners would (hopefully) be thinking, "Thank you, Brian and company, for this great music," and he's saying, "You're welcome."

that fly in sounded awful
it doesn't sound high quality... anything will sound "better quality" when you up the treble and add a mess of digital reverb.
i doubt the video was taken down by BRI either.

I'm still getting the 5-cd box and probably the 2-cd set as well, plus the (future) leak.

sh*t, I missed that ! Some people say it sounds great, others say it sounds awful. I would've make myself my own opinion. Did somebody rip it before it was gone ?

It sounded like a fan mix. A bad fan mix. The fade outs of the instrumental parts in IIGS sounded horrible to my ears

Juyst an observation - the "Heros and Villians" boxes have exactly the same spelling mistakes as the "Hand Written Note". Not just one tape box, but all four "Heroes" boxes. Could they have been written by the same hand? Forgive me if this has been debated before.

Isn't "Psycodelic" a word-play with Psychedelic and Psycho(tic?)?
