Hey Flash, remember the other week when you spouted that "Smile isn't popular"?

Nope,u must be thinking of someone else I think.

You are not Flash Harry.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I don't think it is. I've so far heard more talk about The Neutral Milk Hotel box that got announced today than I have about this.

This guy is.

OK... donning my deerstalker and sucking on my meerschaum (it's legal in SW Surrey...), the following seems to be the case:

the 2CD set has a button available nowhere else, and I'd be amazed if CD2 was duplicated on the box...

the box CDs 2-5 have stuff exclusive to them (3-5 for sure)...

side 4 of the vinyl has material exclusive to that format...

the 45s could well have exclusive material...

don't even think about the digital download...

I think we've been well served.

Still no sign of it on .co.uk? I haven't got no Amazon prime or nowt, so it'd take ages to get to Britain.

How many U.S. dollars is this box gonna retail for again?

$146.89 according to amazon.com.

I pre -ordered it on Amazon for $110 before the price went up.

I live in France, I ordered it yesterday and the delivery estimate is "November 3, 2011 - November 7, 2011". I went for "priority international courier" though, which is a bit more expensive than the other two shipping speeds.

You had to figure that was coming.  I'll probably buy the 2 cd set on the actual release date at a local retailer.  That'll probably be the extent of my SMiLE purchasing.  I can't afford to break the bank on every version available.  I'm already pissed enough at myself for waiting to long to get on the $110 box price.

I'm wondering if the vinyl set that we've seen the tracklist for will be duplicated on the two LPs that come with the box set itself. Still waiting with bated breath for any news of the box set tracklist. Of course, if my hunch is correct, it would appear that even with the multiple formats the only one that will presumably have "everything" is the box set.

Bring on that box set tracklist! If there's a "Surf's Up (2nd Movement)" track on it I think the membership on this board will suffer a collective heart attack!  LOL

Box set doesn't have the button !

I seriously doubt that they'd make two versions of the vinyl. But I could be wrong...

If George Fell Into His French Horn shows up on the box set, it will most likely be labelled as a Surf's Up overdub session, which it technically was. Frankly, all I could imagine seeing of that track on the box set is the actual talking bit.

They're not, as your listing proves, unless we're going to have some seriously short and/or compressed CDs.

For example, you'd have "H&V" scattered across three CDs. The labels have one purpose - to look nice. And they do.

I'm seriously confused as to why they keep jacking up the price. It's at $146.89 now, that's 3 price changes in less than 24 hours

Still very reasonable considering the 110 I got it for was a steal but people are getting hosed

Exactly..

It's good business but still pretty unethical..

Funny thing is if an average fan saw the 146 price tag next to the box set you wouldn't think twice, it's a great price for the set.

Little do they know some of us got it for 40 bucks cheaper  Grin

Don't see how it's any more unethical than the changing price of Milk Bread and Gas.

Well were not talking about raising the price a few cents or dollars..

One minute it's 110, then 140, then 146..

It's a pretty significant price change for no apparent reason apart from them suddenly realising this is going to be a big seller  LOL

I'm not really complaining as I said it's still a very amazing price, much less than we all expected
