It is coming soon. I've been here lurking and making the odd comment but TSS is coming. Soon. May I add myself to the privileged few who know this as FACT. I do have a client who is a MAJOR player but my silence is my song. Won't be long. I'm as excited as anyone Smokin but all I know is..... be patient!!!

Yup, that's being entirely silent. Don't be surprised if they're soon an ex-client.

Heaven forbid that your sources would become  ex-clients, but could you at least tell us all that YOU are excited?

I'm frequently excited, about many things.  Shocked

Given that Mr. Priore claimed in his 2005 THE MAKING OF SMiLE that a complete never-before-released final mix of "Surf's Up" from Jan. '67 is sitting in the vaults, I'm sure we'll hear the whole recording as Brian originally envisioned it...unless Mr. Priore might be mistaken, right?

I would love for this to be true, but ... if such a mix existed, why wouldn't they just use it in 1971, instead of basically re-working the whole track from scratch? Unless the Jan. '67 mix was SOOO weird that Carl and the Boys felt it was unusable -- which of course makes me want to hear it more!

But yeah, for now I'll have to be on the "doubtful" side of this one. I suppose it's possible that all of this maddening silence for six months has been intentional -- that they know we're all assuming there will be no revelations in the set, and they're sitting on a couple of things so mind-blowing that they want to keep the info to themselves until the last minute....

<sigh> ... even when I'm "doubtful" I end up drifting over to "hopeful"!

If there is a pt2 on the boxset, can we have a chip installed in Phil that causes him to be violently sick and suffer explosive diarrhea whenever he tries to play the thing? I think he's forfitted any right to enjoy this music when it comes out.

Neither Peter nor I have ever stated that our (presumed) sources are a client of ours who is a major player in the project. Kinda narrows it down some, wouldn't you think ? Bit like saying "one of the band told me, can't say which one but he's bald and sings in a nasal tone".  Grin

I know nothing.

But who is to say what is nothing and what is something? For if something is nothing and anything is something then anything is nothing. Time for me to meditate.

Unless you're indeed doing your version of Manuel on Fawlty Towers..."I KNOW NO-THING! NO-THING! I FORGET EVERYTHING. I KNOW NOTHING! I AM FROM BARCELONA!"

Actually, the song was found on Van Dyke's walkman, which he inadvertently left at Derek Taylor's office in 1970.  Derek immediately made copies of "Surf's Up Pt. 2" to send to each Beatle.  But alas, since they had already broken up, only George was interested -  completing a demo version of "My Sweet Surf's Up Pt. 2" for his "All Things Must Pass" follow up.  However, the album wasn't finished - The Bangla Desh concert came up and George expressed concern that he might be sued, ala his "He's So Fine" court case.

So..."mistaken"?  I dunno...

I wonder... will the box finally settle the old argument about exactly how (un)finished Smile was ?

Probably, but a half-dozen or so NEW arguments will arise to take its place.
