Hi everyone,

I've looked high and low, i've been from shore to shore to shore, yet still can't find much on this wonderfully soothing song. Please chime in and give any info you can on it (stories behind its writing, recording sessions, musicians present, etc.).

Thanks,   Cool

It's about a former girlfriend of Bruce's and (aside from the baby bit) is reputedly entirely accurate. Session dates are on 10452.

That baby bit, don't you mean 'Tears In The Morning' Andrew?

Musicians on the basic track:
Larry Knechtel (keyboard)
Ed Carter and Al Casey (guitars...probably 12-string acoustics, from the sound of things)
Bass guitar: Joe Osborn
Upright bass: Jimmy Bond
Vibraphone: Daryl Dragon
Drums: John Guerin
Percussion: Frank Capp
and probably Bruce Johnston (piano)

The horn section probably consisted of:
Trumpets: Steve Huffsteter, Marion Childers, Gary Barone, and Chuck Findley
French horns: Arthur Maebe and David Duke
Trombones: Randall Aldcroft, Bob Edmondson, and Michael Barone

There's also some alto flutes in there, but those players are unknown.

I do... geez, maybe I should give this lark a rest for a few years. Getting sloppy in my dotage. Thanks for catching that one.

Speaking of Deirdre, I never noticed how much We're Together Again and Deirdre sound alike...Did Bruce take part of the tune for it or since Brian wrote part of it, that was the part he wrote? or did he just help write the lyrics?

Bruce threw out Brian's lyric contributions due to them being terrible. "His name is Bob and he has a job" was a line Brian suggested apparently.

If I had to hazard a guess I'd say Brian did the vocal arrangemet. The rest is pure Bruce cheese. I'd consider Deirdre to be a highlight on a record full of highlights.

I'd rather be forced to sleep with Caitlyn Jenner then ever have to listen to NPP again.

I've noticed with headphones that the backing track is in mono. That means all of the instruments were probably mixed down to one track before vocals were added. Sounds like the work of one BDW, doesn't it?

Deirdre also sounds an awful lot like The Joker Went Wild by Brian Hyland too.

I think Brian wrote the lines he sings lead on.
