I hadn't realised Mike had a Facebook page until now. It links to an interview in the Arkansas newspaper in which he alludes to a possible 50th celebration, though not to a specific re-union or recording session:

So all of the court battles have been resolved and you and Brian and Al are in a good place?

Yeah, there’s no outstanding legal fracases going on, which is a good thing because there’s been some dialogue between Brian and I getting together and seeing what we could come up with, and there’s a 50th anniversary of the Beach Boys coming up in a couple of years, and it would make a lot of sense to do something together.

This might be an old interview doing the rounds again, but I don't think so  - I don't recall it anyway.

Interestingly, Mike's Facebook page also links to loads of Brian news and his recent Tweet etc -  I don't see the same courtesy coming from Brian's sources. I think Mike comes out of the interview pretty well.  Maybe I'm getting old, but I'm starting to warm to him a lot more these days.

I don't think Mike's Facebook page is official.

I think Mike has finally mellowed a little in the past few years perhaps making him easier to understand?

Agreed - though the links are good.

Anyone here know who's behind it? There are signs that it might be sanctioned, or run on his behalf.

This whole thing reminds me of Simon and Garfunkel's concert tours of late... I believe the general feeling between the two was "We're just too old to fight any more".

No complaints here.  Smiley

He is fighting 40 years of anti Mike feeling from his band mates, fans, writers and many others. Perhaps he knows he can't change that after this long but if he can be seen to be the peace maker now he can't lose.

If a reunion happens, it's down to Mike.
If a reunion doesn't happen, good on Mike for trying.

Win-win.

IMHO, with all the new things that are happening for Brian, I still think Mike want to ride on Brian's coat-tails.

10 years ago I would have agreed Donna but I hope this late in the game Mike may be more reflective. He is almost 70 and that would make me think it is time to repair some bridges.
Mike may not have had the critical success (and the odd failure) that Brian has had since 1998 but he has put out a consistent product in concert. I would imagine he has been seen live by more people and has earned more in-concert than his cousin, and rightfully so. He works pretty hard IMO.

It may be irrelevant anyway. I wouldn't be surprised to read in claymcc's  interview that Brians not interested.

Mike works hard and so does his band.  I'd go see them more often but they are so busy all over the world that they seldom come within driving distance of home/

I don't think either Mike or Brian are compelled to reunite on stage/   Theyll do it if they want to.

Seems like it's just a fan.

It's all good. It shoes that the Mike Love apologists are more open minded and forgiving.  Smiley

So - is it too early to say we love the Lovester?
