I always like reading Bruce interviews because they're so hard to find.  I'd say 65% of the interviews are just Mike, and 34% Mike & Bruce.  A solo Bruce interview is a rarity and he always has interesting stuff to say.

It looks like they are starting to prepare to expand their marketing reach by targeting the new demographic of the baby boomer generation ... the retirement home market!

Surprisingly interesting interview.  But what does he mean by this??

“Would you ask that if Mike Love died and not Carl Wilson?”

That was a great interview, and I really liked his ideas about doing the new shows. It makes it more interesting for everyone (except those who just want the hits...).

I have a lot to look forward to with them!  Smiley

Seeing one of their fairly recent shows I would have to agree that they must not be on cruise control.  They are attentive to musical detail and perform almost flawlessly even on the lesser performed songs at the arts centers.

Man, I'd love to see one of those UK shows.

I think Bruce was asking; would/should have the Beachboys continued with Carl, Al. Bruce, Ed et al if Mike had died?

A valid question.

I think he was talking about his 19-minute disco version.

Interesting interview with Bruce---if the low-key tour comes off, it'd be good to see and hear.

One thing he says needs explaining---if Bruce means trhe BB were the first rock group behind the Iron Curtain AFTER the Russian invasion, fair enough.

But my rock group from Scotland toured there from 15 July to 1 August 1966--one show in Prague, then we toured out of our base in Ostrava and did about eight shows in recreation centres, Pioneer camps etc.. (Ostrava has a population of around 350,000). We had to pretend to be Scottish country dancers to get our visas---only later did I find out we could have been jailed for that  !!!!  Also, I have some grounds to believe THe Hollies were there at some point...and Lulu (who is not a group  :----)

That was a good interview, but to me Bruce always comes of as corny.

Especially his dress style on stage

He seems a nice enough guy. I think he sees himself as the McCartney of the group - you never see him badmouthing anything (besides the drugs, but then from his point of view it's more than understandable), always ready to dispense a historical tidbit to appease a journalist, respectful of all parties involved (He speaks very highly of Brian and Mike), and protecting the legacy of sorts. He's a better interview than Mike, that's for sure.

But.... cool he ain't  Roll Eyes

Wow, that's a very unproportional representation of Bruce, thanks to the angle the person is shooting at the screen! haha

I'm wondering though, how someone who was high school buddies with Kim Fowley could have wound up  so damn corny.

Well Bruce said last year after seeing himself on videotape that he looked like a grape that was getting ready to pop.

Didn't go to that South Bend concert since I saw them in Anderson, Indiana on July 11 (my birthday!). Too bad they played outdoors at South Bend this time because the South Bend Opera House (where I saw them on 11-11-07 with Eric Burdon opening) has GREAT acoustics. I also saw Traffic at the Opera House in '94 and got autographs from Steve Winwood and jim Capaldi!
