Anybody familiar with this lore of an Appalachian race of people who have for many years hidden in the hills, guarding the secret of their heritage?
I just saw a film at the Appalachian Film Festival about the Melungeons. A web search revealed that Elvis is believed by some to be of Melungeon heritage. A compelling story.

He had some Indian, Scottish, and Jewish ancestry.
