Just read about the proposed restaurant in the Al thread.

Does anybody besides me remember the BB's Cafe down in Manhattan/Hermosa in the early 90s? I went there a few times, and have a matchbook somewhere.

It was a higher-end burger joint--sort in the vein of Islands, but crossed with a BB's-themed Hard Rock.

It was decent and good, not anything stratospheric, but it closed inside of a couple years.

Wonder if the plans for the restaurant will be any different.

yep, went there once in summer of 1992.  Still have a match book cover, two menus and a sweat shirt.  Food was ordinary, but the decor (rare photos, signed guitars, etc) was worth the trip. Only disappointment was that they were playing top 40 music, not any BB's...

Hey Southbay. Have not seen your band picture before. Is there a link to a bigger version? Thumbs Up

Anyone remember when ML had plans in the mid-'90s to open a chain of restaurants called Club Kokomo?

Thank god that plan didn't work out.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

Yeah, I think that is exactly what I said when I walked in expecting to hear Sail On Sailor on the speakers...

I suspect the place closed down because Mike caught Brian and Van Dyke in the kitchen once, experimenting with new recipes for the milkshakes. "Don't foda with the formula, guys!"

Thanks for the link Southbay. I knew that was Brian top left but to my old eyes he looked short and thin next to Mike. Close-up clarified. 3D
