I saw them at the Cumberland County Memorial Auditorium in Fayetteville, NC . . . and I thought it was 1982.

No Dennis, and no Brian for that show . . . Maybe it was '83?

Could be I made a typo-might be the June 3 1982 show I list as Fayetteville, Arkansas. I'll check that out-

Yep-I looked at the 82 BB Fun and you are right-it was North Carolina not Arkansas- so show you saw was June 3 1982-Dennis and Brian missed a lot of shows at that time

Cool . . . The opening band for that show was called Alliance.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that Brian was "fired" from the group on November 5th, 1982. Right? I'm just wondering if the "cocaine sessions" took place before or after the 5th.

Read the Gaines book ("Heroes & Villains").  It'll tell you everything.

Yeah-that book has a lot of detail about the more sordid details of their career-certainly entertaining.  As for Nov 5-yes he was fired as a ploy to get him to accept treatment- it worked

I did, about ten years ago. I remember the basics of the CW/Brian situation.

1982 was a weird year for sure-probably Brian's all time low point

Ian,

The Fayetteville, NC gig is "Cumberland" County . . . not Columbia.

Should point out that 1982 was again updated yesterday-with all the AFM sessions for Youngblood and a few other surprises- dates are straight from the AFMs (Thanks to C-Man)

I have a question for anybody who wants to answer. Was 1982 any better/worse than 1981 in terms of performances? By 1982 they had Jeff Foskett instead of Adrian Baker, right? I assume that Jeff would have sounded better with the group than Adrian.

Yes and No...Yes, the concerts were better (some never-  or seldom-played songs were added, and the performances were pretty top-notch, thanks to the return of Carl and the resumption of regular rehearsals).  But No, Jeff did not replace Adrian as such...they were BOTH there in the band.  Jeff did take most of the falsettos, but Adrian still did one or two (like "Barbara Ann").  Billy Hinsche replaced Adrian beginning in November.
