I agree with you though. If this were the early albums being released as mini-vinyl replicas in a boxset I'd be all over it. $100+ for 60 odd tracks ain't worth the novelty.

Ok. I am going to be kinda sh**y here. When can we HOPE to see some new Hawthorne CA / Endless Harmony / GV Boxset Disc 5 kind of releases? Ever? Is Brother Records and/or The Beach Boys really that brain dead? Really?

And not that it took Capitol a little too long or anything, but, from 1993 http://page18.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/w24355354

I'm just going to download the songs that have new stereo mixes. Buying all those CDs with songs we already have just for 5 new stereo mixes is kind of a waste. How about a DVD release of the 11/72 Carnegie Hall show? SMiLE sessions box?

What about releases of the shows that were professionally recorded for In Concert or any other live shows? Barenaked Ladies bring a recording engineer on tour with them to record their shows, and then they offer the shows for sale on their website through a download, or you can order a CD through the mail.

Why couldn't they do something like that? Or, better than that, when will BB Central.com finally open up?

They want to faithfully reproduce the original 45 picture sleeves.  Agreed though, that it is overkill.

A 5 or 6 disk "official" version of the fan-created boot would have sufficed... and covered their entire career!

I'm torn on whether or not to buy this release.  I probably will eventually... maybe with some of my "stimulus" check

If the Beatles had suffered this kind of misrepresentation, they would have never got past singing 'Please Please Me' and 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand' and leaping around in Beatle suits."

Ok thanks.
Maybe a 5-6 disk set with a good cover reproduction book would do better?
