I just heard this version for the first time very recently. I understand that Brian is in the mix and he seems audible. My question is, after the controversy that Landy wouldn't allow Brian to be a part of the song at the time, did something change when it came time to record the Spanish vesion? Was it released around the same time period? Gracias!

It was released in 1989.

So, being that date, did Landy get credit as a co writer/producer as Mike Love stated was necessary in order for Brian to record?

Everyone I know who knows Spanish absolutely hates the Spanish version of Kokomo.

The did change the lyrics quite  abit to fit the rhythm in Spanish. I speak fluent Spanish and am aware that often when English speakers sing in another language they are harshly criticized for their poor language skills no matter how it sounds. Even Los Lobos get criticized in Mexico for having "weird Spanish".
