(A good cause on this 10th year of Carls passing IMO)

Music:

BRIAN WILSON AND JERRY SEINFELD STAND UP FOR A CURE

The 2008 concert series will raise money for lung cancer research

By JAY FRASCO, Contributing Editor
Published 2/7/2008

LOCATION: New York

THE SKINNY: An all-star line-up including Brian Wilson, Bon Jovi, Jerry Seinfeld and Andrea Bocelli will be performing throughout 2008 at multiple venues for Stand Up for a Cure, a concert series set up to raise money and awareness for lung cancer research, reported Hollywood Reporter.

The series opener on February 12 at the Hammerstein Ballroom is already sold out, with the show being dedicated to Bon Jovi guitarists Richie Sambora's father, who was treated at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Sloan-Kettering is the organization who will receive the funds to help battle the deadly disease.

In an interview, Sambora said, "Cancer is relentless; you can't stop it. Hopefully this money will help find answers."

Stand Up for a Cure is a non-profit organization. A June 2 performance by Jerry Seinfeld will follow at the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden, followed by a July 11 concert headlining Brian Wilson, and in December Bocelli will be performing.

Oh, I thought Brian and Jerry were performing on the same day - that would've been cool.

I agree, that would be very awesome if Seinfeld and Wilson performed at the same show. But that's just me. Do Seinfeld's cynical (yet hilarious) observations and obsessive compulsive selfishness even belong in the same room as the innocent sincerity of Brian's music? (I love 'em both, they just wouldn't seem to mesh together very well.)

I love Seinfeld. But I'm not sure Brian would get it. Dennis would have probably gotten a kick out of it though!

Brian in NY?HuhHuh  Rock!         Banana

I hope he plays TLOS because, not for nothing, his usually set of standards doesn't thrill me the way it used to.

That's a good point...I'm not crazy about him always doing the usual songs at these types of things, but its really not the type of event to pull out "downers" or songs that very few people know.

No matter what songs he does, this sounds like a great event for Brian to be doing, a nice way to pay tribute to Carl.

Yeah, 'Til I Die wouldn't really make sense in a situation like this.
