Have you ever wondered why With Me Tonight was not included on BWPS in 2004?  Me too - it has always been one of my favorite SMiLE-era tracks.  Perhaps it didn't fit in with any of the three suites Brian envisioned that SMiLE should be.  In my historically-inaccurate SMiLE mix, it will occupy an important place on "Side One".  Here is a just-completed (mostly) stereo "3-minute single" of WMT,which is another SMiLE / Smiley Smile hybrid.  I may expand it for the album mix, but with only a chorus and no verses to work with, it seems about the right length.

Very cool! I forgot how many variations of this song there are.

I like it. Probably one of my favorite songs from this era, and I was so disappointed when it didn't make a full appearance on the boxset. So much material, why let it go to waste? Anyway, thanks again.

Lovely stuff!

Thanks for the positive comments.  While it's still fresh in my mind, I will probably make an extended version as well.  Since WMT is basically a two-chord chant, it might be cool to take it full circle and return back to the SS a cappella part and ending with the single bass line, instead of the usual fade-out.

I miss the version where Brian is teaching the band the parts and sings his part in the most exaggerated falsetto vocal ever.

Wow, I didn't know there were so many versions!!  Can you list all of the sources you picked from?

Just for the heck of it, here's a nice version done by Sandy Salisbury of The Millennium:

Sure.  The false start and studio talk was taken from the 2001 CD "Hawthorne CA", the parts from the Smiley Smile version from the 2001 reissue of "Smiley Smile / Wild Honey", the stereo a cappella opening from Unsurpassed Masters Vol 18, the last part from UM Vol 17, and the remainder from The Smile Sessions Box Set.  There's actually other versions that exist which I chose not to use, mainly because of poor sound quality and/or similarity with the others.  I'm currently working on an extended version which should be done in a few days.

Wow!  If a SMiLE tribute album is ever released, that would be a good addition.

Where would I be able to find this?

I've just completed an extended version of With Me Tonight - tell me what you think!

I'm not sure which one I'll be using on my album mix - this may be too long if I intend to keep "Side One" under 20 minutes.
