Who is Bob Gordon and What Was His Role During SMiLE?

I always thought maybe "Bob Gordon" of "Bob Gordon's real trip" was just a fake name, a term of art. But now, for the first time, Im hearing that he was a real person and one of the actual voices on the Psychedelic Sounds. But who was he really? What was his usual purpose for being there? Did he have an official role like Vosse as the assistant and Anderle as the BRI businessman? Or was he another reporter like Paul Williams and Jules Siegal? Was he just a "friend" like Danny Hutton and Mark Volman? I've read almost all the sources now if you check my ongoing thread that could literally be a book, and I've yet to see any of them mention this guy specifically. Is he in the airport photo?
