He still didn't get it right! It's Steve Korthof!

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Just got a copy of this I found on EBAy. WHAT a GREAT BOOK!!!
One of the things that stood out was the pic of Al playing his Gibson J160E at Ithaca College 11-22-1966, which I haven't ever seen referenced as a guitar he played.
Glad I finally got this book. ALOT of other cool pics too. You oughta get one Mikie....

Whoa...on the surface this photo changes thing a bit. The J-160E only had *two* knobs, one volume and one tone. Like Lennon's, Harrison's, and the one which a student of mine got last year.
That J160E in the photo has *four* knobs, which suggests two pickups rather than the standard neck pickup you can see in the photo, just above the soundhole. Unless that was an option which is rarely seen, you would not normally see that guitar with four knobs. Or maybe I just don't know my Gibson history...
Must investigate further.

There is another photo in the book which appears to show two pickups, but the pic isn't nearly as clear; the author of the book attributes the guitar as the J160E; personally, I know relatively little about all the different guitars, other than what I've seen

Yes! That photo does show a bridge pickup too. I have never seen, in all the photos and whatnot of the J160E, a period photo of an example with four knobs unless it was one someone tampered with after-market in later years, and in this case it may have been a custom-order because it's from when these were being sold new, before reissues and the like.
I've never seen one, either way, that looks to be from the factory as the one in those photos. I'll try some resources and report back.
That is *definitely* not a standard J-160E and these photos may have dug up a one-of-a-kind or one-off Gibson. Pretty cool.

Just noticed there is a pickup selector switch under the soundhole, just below the pickguard. That is very unusual, if not bizarre. Most if not all Gibsons with 2 pickups had that switch on the upper part of the body, like a Les Paul.
More to come. Hopefully with some assistance...

I picked this up at the merchandise table at the BBs concert in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the day before yesterday. It was the only non-shirt item they had.
Nicely done!
