Very nice piece; two real gents!

Love this statement by Matt:

"Brian’s band, to a man, they are all really nice people. To be able to like the people you’re on stage with — and to have every one of them be top notch — it’s a great environment in which to make music,” he says.

Brian's band, without a doubt, are the best people to a man. And not only are the all top flight musicians and artists, they were (almost) all fans of the music before they went to work for him. Its great having the best people guard the musically legacy of this great man.

I like the line about Brian never missing a show.

That sounds really obvious, because he's the STAR of the show, but in reality lots of musicians of every caliber have to cancel every once in a while for various reasons.  The fact that Brian hasn't (at least in the last dozen or so years) really does kind of speak to his enjoyment of performing.

The other interesting line was when Paul talked about how sometimes there are special moments with the crowd.  Not to get too sappy but I heard the great Steve Perry talk about that once.  He basically said that he's always been complimented on his amazing voice, but he was never a good singer without the crowd making him want to perform above himself.  He suggested that if the crowd was really into it he was able to sing much better each night.

Not being a performer i've never experienced that, but I've heard other performers talk about the importance of the audience.
