Fifty Sides of The Beach Boys audiobook

Hi everyone--just wanted to let you know that my publisher ECW Press has struck a deal with Audible, the audiobooks division of Amazon, to do an audio version of Fifty Sides of The Beach Boys. It would have been perfect to incorporate the songs discussed, but the licensing is just too complicated. Nonetheless, hopefully it will be an attractive alternative for those who are too lazy to read the book  or who want to kill some time during long commutes. I've volunteered to do the reading myself — Kenneth Branagh wasn't available – and I'll be setting foot in a studio for four recording sessions soon. It's a bit intimidating, but I'll let you know how it goes.

That would then be my first audio book purchase for sure.

It would be funny if someone got Brian to read aloud some of the stories written about him. "But then Brian Wilson - the drug-addled genius behind the Beach Boys sunshine harmonies and Wall of Sound pop records - retreated to his bed amid a haze of pot smoke and copious amounts of nose candy. He wouldn't reemerge until 1976, when the controversial psychotherapist Eugene Landy finally lured him out of a bed and employed a platoon of bodyguards and other handlers to force him to write songs and exercise regularly. What followed were two albums that are simultaneously scorned and regarded as cult classics - the retro oldies hodgepodge 15 Big Ones,  and the synth-laden, childlike (and some say childish) Love You, the latter of which has a photo of Brian Wilson desperately clutching a pack of cigarettes in the insert."

I'd been listening to the 'Keith Richards - Life' read by Johnny Depp and I loved it....

any other good ones out there on artists etc ?
