Thought this might be an appropriate topic given the season.  First off I love this song, Jerry Keller I mean to this day I think he was just a couple years too early as the song is absolutely ear candy and would've been a massive hit during the "surf craze" if it had been released (and rearranged) during that era.  Still one of my favorite "pre-Beach Boys" songs.  Anyhow, Bruce Johnston and Terry Melcher demoed a version of this with lyrics suited for a girl group so my question is what girl group did they arrange this song for and who rewrote the lyrics including a spectacular new middle-eight?
