18th Feb 1966, Beach Boy Brian Wilson recorded the future classic song 'Good Vibrations', which went on to become the band's third US number-one hit. As a child, his mother told him that dogs could pick up "vibrations" from people, so that the dog would bark at "bad vibrations" Wilson turned this into the general idea for the song.

Yes, I've heard of this. And didn't he record it all in little sections or something?

Mike came up with the idea for barking dogs playing cellos on a train at the end.

Wasn't this the Beach Boys song you could fit into your pocket?  Like a pocket symphony?  Or am I confusing this with the teenage symphony to God?

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

I think I heard this song during a documentary about the Beach Boys. Has anybody else here heard it before? I was trying to find which album it came out on and I found several (mostly of the Greatest Hits type but not all). My question is: are all these versions the same song or are there any differences between them? Also, was it ever a big hit like "Kokomo"?

The vote goes in your hip pocket, but the pocket symphony fits better in a shirt pocket.

I think it's time to cut out the crap guys. This Good Vibratishuns was Karole Caye's finest moment. She played keyboard, bass, glockenspiel, Tannerin, harpsichord, miserichord and bon accord, and sang harmonies while the Beach Boys were in Canada playing ice hockey; her cellos aren't to be scoffed at. Give da lady some respect.

There is no miserichord on the AM sheet. Get off this site.
