Has anybody seen the movie "Manos: The Hands Of Fate"? Somebody actually uploaded the entire movie on YouTube. I'm watching it right now. This is the greatest worst movie ever made!  Grin I thought maybe this could be a thread to talk about other "so bad they're good" movies. Plan 9 From Outer Space is an obvious one. What else?

Here's Manos if anybody wants to see it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdTyTRnGn14

I've never seen Manos but I've heard it makes Plan 9 From Outer Space seem like Raging Bull by comparison.

A bad movie I watched recently is The Last Movie, Dennis Hopper's ill fated follow up to his classic Easy Rider. Talk about 100 mins of absolutely NOTHING happening on the screen. Here's it's 'plot' in detail. An opening 25 mins of a crappy Western B-Movie being shot in Peru intercut with endless shots of Hopper riding around on a horse with Kris Kristofferson crooning "Me & Bobby MaGee" in the background. When the shoot wraps up Hopper stays around to bang a local whore. A drunken buddy of his plans to make a fortune in gold mining leads to losts of pointless talky scenes. Hopper also starts sniffing around a married lady but never actually fucks her. Then these plots are dropped because the local villagers are pretending to make their own movies even though all the equipment is made out of bamboo. The local priest starts raving that all movie are evil. Then he suddenly chills out and has a drunken talk with Hopper where Hopper decends into one of his incomprehensible drugged out psychobabble speeches - the end.

Not so much a 'so bad it's good film', just a 'so bad it's bad' type.

Watched this only it was with the Mystery Science Theatre 3000 gang ripping it to shreds:

This and 'Mitchell' are my favorite MST3K episodes.

Ditto--I've only seen it via Mistie.

(Mitchell is also a great one. My other favorites: High School Big Shot [with that great short about bread], Zombie Nightmare, Last of the Wild Horses, and The Sword and the Dragon.)

The guy that played him was supposedly on acid for the whole film, which explains his weird movments through the movie. I can't believe that the guy making this film actually went through with it to the end. I mean, the Torgo guy is so obviously out of it. He can barely even walk. I love the part where you can see the "clapperboard" that is used to start filming the take. It didn't get edited out all the way in the final cut of the movie.

Calling all MST3K freaks!

Cinematic Titanic's farewell tour is in full swing, you might want to catch it before you regret it for the resssst of your NATURAL LIFE! It's hitting SF for Sketchfest tonight at the Castro... I'm pacing around frantically, because a short I made with Trace is part of the program. So remember to laugh extra loud at that part, your friendly neighborhood Smiley Surrealist would appreciate it.

Check out "The Doll Squad" on the tour especially. "The Astral Factor" is a lot of fun too... altho it's downright competent compared to Manos.

You know Trace? Amazing! I've interviewed Joel a couple of times (CT is coming to town next month), and he's cool, but Trace is perhaps my favorite of that original cast ...

Joel Hodgson is such a fantastic interview, it's amazing when your heroes end up living up to their heroics, huh? What did you interview him for, incidentally?

I've been working with Trace on a few things, there's some interesting stuff in the pipeline! Shhhhh, he said -- fooling no one. But it's great for the first thingie to finally get out there, I've been sitting on that for a year now while wanting to scream about it.

Both of them did voices for a silly feature of mine I may have mumbled about here once or twice.

The thought of Torgo ripped to the gills on acid, weeks away from death on MANOS adds a poignancy to the whole thing. Maybe that's not the right word. Nausea?

I wonder why production(if you can call it that lol) wasn't halted, or abandoned altogether? The Torgo guy is painfully wrecked...to the point where you almost wonder if he even knew where he was or what he was doing.

MST3k is one of my favorite, favorite shows.  It simply does not get old.  Had the pleasure of meeting Frank Conniff (TV's Frank) and Trace Beaulieu (Crow, Dr. Forrester) at Dragon*Con 2011 and they were both very cool guys.  Here's a picture I took of them:

I'd love to see the Seltzer/Freidburg "movie" movies get the MST3K treatment.

Uh... the reason he can barely walk is because his costume didn't fit properly: he was supposed to have the legs of a satyr, but if I recall properly, they made them "back to front" and didn't have the time or finances to fix the mistake.

A HD restoration of Manos is in the works and they've released the opening scene, which includes almost a minute of previously unseen footage:

Joel is hosting a Turkey Day marathon - streaming now! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_jrJCRlItM

The chance of Manos being involved in this is pretty high!

And here's a short thingie I made for Trace's book: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fy_F7NY8ntY

And now I'm going to hum the majestic Torgo Theme and check on the food. Enjoy your waistline expansion, folks!
