I've been listening to the California Girls tracking sessions (maybe my fave BB sessions ever?), and I love how Brian always says "Here we go..." before each new take. This of course isn't exclusive to these sessions either.

I love the natural sweet way Brian had of talking to the musicians at sessions, you can hear the kindness in his voice. It's remarkable how he kept the musicians in line and got results while still maintaining that calm demeanor.

I agree. Even when things aren't going too well (see some parts of TSS), he never starts slagging off anyone. Mild frustration seems to be the extent of his negative feelings. The vibe must have been quite different in, say, some Spector sessions.

...although Badman mentions in his book that Brian got really frustrated in one GV session and threated to play all instruments himself. I know, he was probably kidding, but has anyone heard this tape?

Ditto on the Spector comment. I don't have a lot of Spector session tapes downloaded, but it definitely sounds like a more determined, serious approach on his part.

On Brian's SOT sessions, you can feel the wheels turning in his head and you can sense his natural positive enthusiasm. Probably was a nice change of pace for the WC after working with the chain smoking Spector.

Whadya mean, chain smoking? Phil didn't smoke cigs. Not then.
Although, the (way too tall) dude who played him in
an American family smoked.
Also, Phil said "here we go", and "let's make it" a lot. Brian did too.
Is that just universal producer talk, or Brian emulating his
hero?
