This is hard to find; I've been looking for it: the made-for-TV movie "Deadman's Curve." Not "Citizen Kane," but cool. Anyway, if anyone is interested and it's not against the rules..... here's a link!

For whatever reason, the flick is kind of hard on Jan.

Been wanting to see this for so long although there are a lot of mistakes in the movie as I have heard. Thanks.

I think the actors do their job very well, although "Jan" doesn't look that much like the real Jan.

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

I remember seeing this when it first aired in early 1978. Haven't seen it since ... so thanks for the link! I can never see Bruce Davison in anything---and he seems to be in everything---without remembering watching this. And Jan is Captain Apollo/Zarek... ha.

In case anybody is interested (and hasn't seen it), the Rolling Stone article that inspired the movie is online at author Paul Morantz's website (along with a nice story about how it ended up on the internet):

If it wasn't for Nixon, Jan  Dean would've been on the cover of Rolling Stone.
