I'm no designer, but does anyone else think the Beach Boys could use a new logo? The one they use is SO 1980s. I think it contributes to the view that they're old and that their music is not cool. Anyone know if this logo will be used on the new single/album?

It will be used on the single and they have been using it throughout the whole 50th Anniversary stuff.  Mike also wore a hat with the logo for the Grammys.

I totally agree with you.  I've always found it rather tacky and horrifically cheesy.  It just sticks out like a sore thumb.  I'd love to see an updated look that's sleeker and a bit more minimalist.  Definitely something less dated.

It's going to be used everywhere for the reunion. And yes, it's on the single release cover art.

It's from the 70s, not the 80s.

It's been used for more than 30 years. I say keep it, no matter how uncool it is.

While I agree with you that an updated logo is needed, the fact is, is that they are old. If people think their music is uncool using their eyes, then maybe they should try using their ears.

I love it! It's sort of like the Beatles drop T logo! Everyone's familiar with it.

That being said, I personally would have enjoyed the band using the Smile-esque font for the reunion tour.

Brother Records logo becomes the present day logo or I mangle my genitals with a broken beer bottle. Your move, Beach Boys.

I'm not nuts about it--looks like the lettering of a 50s hamburger joint. But the Beach Boys are...the Beach Boys.

Tradition is more important than how it actually looks.

It does give me some bad vibes. I think of something like independent gas stations when I see the logo.

I think it would be cool if they used the cooper black 'Pet Sounds' font for their logo once or twice for some occasion. Doesn't really bother me in the slightest though - that's why God made the font-io.

I think they should keep it as it is, it's fine in my eyes and just adds to the nostalgia. There isn't much point changing it now.

The way they've animated it for the TWGMTR video is mighty impressive. Having become a member of the congregation in 1976, I've never known different. Bring it on!

Yeah the animation is kind of coo. It almost means they wont' be abandoning it after they went and paid some computer geek several hundred dollars to animate it Smiley

Great image you painted here. Sitting by the computer with a broken beer bottle and your pants down. I love it. It would have made me laugh out loud (or roll on the floor laughing my ass off) if I still had the capacity for human emotion.

I actually like it, along with the Pet Sounds font it's become kind of synonymous with the band. Has anyone noticed the 15 Big One's logo is actually slightly different to all the versions used after? The "The" is in a different place  Wink

For better or for worse, that logo has "travelling jukebox" written all over it. Grin

Well isn't that what they are? What's the problem? If you had 36 Top 40 hits you would be expected to play them too. They are, what they are and people need to get used to it. That part is never going to change.

No problem at all, it was just an observation. They've been that "travelling jukebox" for about 35 years so complaining would be pointless anyway.

Indeed, and except for a tune here and there, they really have not had anything new album-wise to tour with. The Travelling Jukebox thing is a real simple concept; you play what the people who spend good money to see you want to hear.

Logo would've been billion times better if it was the one used on the 1993 GV box set. That logo retain some honor
