Brian instrumentals '65

I'm compiling a mix with some of Brian's best compositions from around '65 when he had this special groovy early-psych sound. I think his best instrumentals were made around this year.
I'll be using SOT takes to make a good mix of each song. The beautiful sounds of The Wrecking Crew and Brian's sounds without vocals for once.

I've always thought that "She Knows Me Too Well" has a groovy early-psych sound. "When I Grow Up To Be A Man" as well.*

I have a mix of the backing of When I Grow Up, the end has a tag of the guys singing the ages and I think, possibly Denny, shouts 69 at the end. I was told this was the mix that was prepared for inclusion on the Stack-O-Tracks album but wasn't included for some reason.

The GV Box Set has a binaural mix of When I Grow Up on Disc 5. Music is on the left channel and vocals on the right channel.

Nooooo-you can't replace Good To My Baby. I was listening to it today and it reminds me of Here Comes Your Man by The Pixies.

That odd ascending/descending harmonica part (sounds like it's trying to replicate the sound of a breath) is pretty far-out as well.

Those harmonica bits are really oddly, but fantastically, placed. Like the drums in the coda of 'God Only Knows', Brian thinks of the most genius riffs.

What about "Summer Means New Love."

I've always thought of that one to be a follow up to the "Summer Place" theme. The piano parts are similar with the 9th voicings as well as assimilar melodies. Hmm.
Has BW or anyone ever officially commented on this song? The strings at the end are beautiful too. Very underrated.

I thought about including it, but it can't have too many songs. The strings, yeah. They're wonderful.
Have you listened to the Back of my Mind instrumental? The strings in the end are absolutely marvellous with that descending bassline.
