I have one of the limited edition reproduced booklets from the 90's. Glad to know it's still a collectible. Were there more of them reproduced after the limited edition quantity?

I've only seen one original Smile booklet in my lifetime, and it belongs to Will Brison. Frank Holmes was in attendance when the "revealing" took place in S.F. Will had to keep it a couple of feet away from us so we wouldn't get any drool marks on it.......

Is that the artist's proof one, with the markings and such?

You're thinking of the back slick. The original booklets are complete, down to the staples.  I've only ever seen two, and one was accompanied by a full sleeve mock-up. God only knows how much that's worth now. Talking Monopoly money to the likes of us: maybe $4.99 to a Beatles fan.

BTW, the eBay vendor has been in touch with me: they didn't know it was a repro.

NOT!!
I'm speaking of the proof copy of the booklet. It has markings, of some sort, on the pages. Pretty sure that's how it was described to me. Maybe the owner will see this thread and chime in...

Interesting - never heard of that before. The print orders were sent out on 12/8/66 and  the litho positives, along with a progressive proof and a sample booklet, were mailed on 12/19/66, with delivery expected  by 1/3/67 (Scranton) and 1/6/67 (LA), so any such proof dates, at a rough guess, to late November 1966.

Finally saw this thread.  I, ahem, co-own the booklet in question with my good friend Will Brison.  He's like a twin brother to me... Wink

The booklet is finished, with staples and everything.  What's missing is the photo credit for Guy Webster, and the artwork credit for Frank Holmes.  Where they should be, there is yellow glue residue, as if this proof was then pasted up with corrections after the fact, which then fell off over the years.  When I showed it to Frank he got really excited, and quickly verified its authenticity.  Dumb me, though -- I was going to get Frank to sign the booklet in pencil, and I forgot.  I've been meaning to write him and ask if he will provide me with a Letter of Authenticity to keep with it.

Lee, thanks for that - I erroneously interpreted 'markings' as 'writing or notations'. Apologies.

Oh, and please say 'hi' to Will for me when you see him next: been too long (see what I did there ?) since I've seen either of you.

Don't beat yourself up too much, it was obviously a memory fault on my part.
Having never actually seen the twin's copy made it easier to err; Is Will Big like Arnold, to Lee's Danny?

Will's more like a ying to Lee's yang.

And vice versa.  Grin

They share so much, it's unbelievable.

WAIT!!!!!
You mean my 226 isn't real?

If the sleeve is green, yes, it is. Real boot, that is...  Roll Eyes

And I suppose that the person who owns the green #226 would likely be the one responsible for making the white bootlegs...  Grin

Well of course it's your fault. It's a scientifically proven fact that I'm never wrong in these matters.  Roll Eyes

(See, I added a smiley - that means 'joke')

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!
