Must check youtube!

U2 comes to the Valley from a concert Sunday night at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. A highlight there was Bono singing a bit of the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows" at the end of "Beautiful Day."

edit.

Here it is (3.50). Sorry Bono. Carl beats you hands down!

He sings "God only knows the way I feel about you". Doesn't sound like GOK by the BBs to me

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

haha, I sure wish that odious, jumped-up little prick would ski into a tree like his namesake. Actually I'd prefer to see him somehow ski directly into a woodchipper/vat of sulfuric acid.......

Bono has long interpolated other performers' songs into his own during concerts; sometimes the juxtaposition is quite appealing and revealing, othertimes not so much. I'd say this mangling of the GOK lyric is not too inspired.

It does remind me of that story of Bono meeting Brian a couple of years back (at the Ivor Novello Songwriting Award ceremony?). Bono, dressed in black, approached Brian's table to introduce himself and to exclaim that he was a big fan of Wilson's music. Brian responded "Thank you...I'd like a Diet Coke, please". Bono paused for a moment before realizing Brian had mistaken him for a member of the waitstaff, then proceeded directly to the bar and returned with Brian's soda in hand!

I'd like to think Brian knew exactly who the egotistical bastard was.
