Was watching a Doors bio last night and the eventual Doors producer said that the group had intially tried to hire Bruce and then Terry. This surprised me. Just goes to show how well respected they both must have been way back in 1966-67.

Hmmm, I heard that The Doors were brought to Bruce & Terry as talent scouts more or less and that both Bruce & Terry passed on them. But I could be wrong.

Clarification in order. The Doors needed a producer. Before they found the one they had, both Bruce and then Terry were on the short list.

I wonder how Jim would've reacted to Murry ordering him to "syncopate"

Just goes to show how well respected they both must have been way back in 1966-67.

Bruce was definitely considered a hip and talented guy back then.  And it's pretty obvious that Brian Wilson was one of his biggest fans.  Hell, Bruce probably sang more on Pet Sounds and Smile than Dennis.   I always thought it was a shame that Bruce didn't make the front cover of Pet Sounds, considering that he was at the photo shoot at the San Diego Zoo.

It's a shame his role in the shows has been reduced to hand clapper. He could add much more, I guess he doesn't want to

Or something along those lines

Bruce was signed to Columbia when PS came out, and appearing on the cover of a competing label's product would've been a breach of his contract...I doubt he wanted Columbia to sue him for something as little as posing in a picture.
