Does anyone know what this was originally recorded for?  It doesn't sound like the production on the GIOMH album.  It almost sounds like it is something that Joe Thomas produced.

Any insight is appreciated.

Well, the song was re-recorded for the Drew Barrymore film NEVER BEEN KISSED which was released in '99. I assume the recording was done sometime in '98 which would put it right in line as a Joe Thomas production.

I thought it was just re-mixed.  I remember watching Brian and Drew Barrymore in the studio on Entertainment Tonight, and them talking about it.

Not much is known about the track. It just appeared on the iTunes version of GIOMH. It's not to be confused with the Never Been Kissed track, which is indeed the original BBs version.

My guess has always been that it was intended for California, the Wilson Phillips reunion album. It also came out in 2004, and the album as released had two BB covers (In My Room with Brian and DDD w/o him). It doesn't seem like a stretch that Brian and his band threw together a version of DWB for consideration, but that it didn't make it.

I seem to be a wealth of misinformation these days! I never saw NEVER BEEN KISSED and forgot that it was the original BB track that had been included on the soundtrack. Sorry 'bout that.

I think claymcc has the right idea.

It would be nice if there were another way of acquiring this song instead of having to re-buy the subpar GIOMH again...curse that iTunes and their bonus track nonsense!!!  Anybody here actually have this version of "Don't Worry Baby"??
