a song done during the SMiLE sessions? A Friends era song? A song for Marilyn? I never understood why people jumped to the conclusion that it was done during SMiLE because in an interview in LLVS Brian talks about doing a song with just himself and a piano the night before. That could have been anything! An interesting thing (that means absolutely nothing) that can be heard on the track is at the beginning you can hear Brian say '180165'. I always wondered what that number referred to.

well, Love released their cover in 66 or 67 i think so it would make more sense (well, maybe) for brian to have done it nearabout that time rather than later. y'know, while it was still being heard.

I have it as a 2/14/67 recording, but I've been told by a very reliable source that it's a Friends-era recording.
