Did he hear any of it?

Was Brian in regular contact with him at this point?

Did he talk about it?

What did Murry say about it?

Which ear did Murry hold the telephone to while talking to Brian?

No doubt Murry disapproved of drugs, I heard he got private investigators on Brian, and read that when Audrey found out that the boys smoked pot she told them not to tell Murry.

What did Murry think of Smiley Smile, Wild Honey, Friends ... ?

He sang on "Be Here In The Morning", right? Great song! So he must've liked it, right? "My boys need their dad to do a manly low note!" It's so thweet!

I think he praised Good Vibrations quite a bit. I'm sure he enjoyed some of the things he worked on with them. I guess Dennis was able to impress him with some of his stuff. The later years of Murry are interesting to me but very unexplored.

At the beginning of one of  the 'Child Is Father Of The Man' sessions, Chuck Britz is calling out the name of the song, and he's doing it incorrectly; 'Father is the, Child uh,' along those lines. You can hear Brian in the background correcting him, and then you can hear Murray say 'I thought you were calling it...' and Brian says 'C'mon Dad, leave me alone'. You have to turn it up loud to really hear it. This is the first track on cd 2 of the  SMiLE sessions SOT.

Interesting!  It'd be fascinating to know the other title that Murry had in mind.

r u srs?

I don't have the SOT boots anymore.  Angry

I wonder why Murry was there?

In some ways I could see Murry actually loving the stuff. I mean, during the Rhonda vocal sessions a few years before, the famous argument, all he's really doing (as far as I can hear) is telling them to sing 'from their hearts' with sincerity. He could've just said "C'mon boys, crank it out. Make a hit. Get us some money. Don't bother with that bullshit about singin' from yer hearts. Just do it." which would fit his image a bit more, no?

Kevin Dunn as Murry Wilson said it on the BB: An American Family tv-movie, when Brian was explaining GV & signing over to let Murry take control of Sea of Tunes.

Maybe "Murry is Father of Brian"?
