...I think he's an original. Although our tastes don't run parallel (but when is that the case anyway?), I like his succinctness, his jokes, and his lack of moralizing (sort of an anti-Dave Marsh, IMHO).

I have his book with short reviews of thousands of albums of the '70s. Too many nice puns to quote just one. And if I am correct, he awarded an A+ rating to 'Love You', and an 'A' to BWPS, or vice versa. He knows his stuff.

Pretty sharp writer though our tastes are different. As far as Beach Boys he and I both rank Wild Honey high from what I recall.

I always "liked" his reviews, but that's probably because I agreed with a lot of them. I guess we usually like people we agree with...

I liked that he didn't over intellectualize it, either he liked it or he didn't.

The only reviews I trust or like are the ones I read at http://www.brianwilson.com/community/index.html. All other critics are full of sh*t.

(Really I like--but don't love--Christgau. And it's nice seeing him on those "Under Review" dvds. I wish I were on those. I'd be a pompous f*** ... not like here.)
