Does anyone know what live show this Don't Worry Baby is from?  It says 1965 in Chicago and it has Brian with the group.  is it really 1964?  He sounds amazing here.

Yes, that was recorded in Chicago, March 1965. A couple of tracks from those concerts were officially released.
Brian did 3 short tours with the BB in '65. In March, in July when they appeared at the Hollywood Bowl and a couple of concerts in October when they did some TV-work (Jack Benny Hour, Andy Williams Show).

They did record a live show in Chicago in 1965 with Brian, presumably as a back-up, that was replaced by the Party! idea. They've officially released Shut Down and 409 from the gig, one on Hawthorne, CA, the other on the singles box as a download. Other songs are on the Sea of Tunes Live Box - Papa Oom-Mow-Mow, I Get Around, Fun Fun Fun, Johnny B. Goode and Don't Worry Baby, which I think this is from. I think those versions were subject to studio overdubs, which may explain why this sounds so good.

They probably did intend to release it if they did overdubs and also bothered to get Brian so the proper line-up was on it.

Brian's voice on this sounds a lot like the voice he's had for the past 20 years (except, you know, much better).

I love the sound of this 1965 concert, especially with Carl's great sounding 12 string guitar.

Unfortunately it's not the whole concert, but a handful of songs (5 or 6).

For your info- Brian was on the February 1965 tour (as stated in Badman's book-and backed up by a few articles I found) till Toronto.  As the tour seems to have started in Philly on Feb 12- I believe that he played that show too, but he was definately present the next day (I have photos and an article).  He played with the group at three shows in March (Ads show that Badman was incorrect about only one day in Chicago -they played on both March 26 and 27. They also played a show in Cincinatti the next day-assumption has to be that Brian played that too, though no reviews exist.  In July he was with them for a bunch of California shows as well (including the 65 Hollywood Bowl-he did not just appear at rehearsals-he actually played the show-photos of the actual concert exist)
The two Chicago shows were taped, but tapes that exist prove that as usual the BBs were not satisfied and tried to "fix" it-basically re-played a live show in the studio. Ultimately-they seem to have scrapped a second concert LP and had a "Party" instead

So the "Chicago" songs from the Live Box Set are essentially totally new live-in-the-studio takes with crowd noise? Is there anything remaining from the original live tapes on those songs?

I don't think the studio tapes Ian mentioned where ever booted.
The recordings on the Live Box are live from 2 different concerts - Arie Crown Theater, Chicago - March 26 & 27, 1965

Yeah, I don't think it matters when the physical copy was around...
