Jon, I am waiting with baited breath for the new book. I would like to know if you can include a list of songs that Dennis sang on with the Beach Boys, that he played the drums, and didn't play drums on. Maybe it would be easier to just list the songs he wasn't on due to filming or whatever.  I know this is alot to ask, and if it is not possible, do you know of a place where I can find this information? I really don't have time to go back and thumb through your 1st book looking for these answers when, for example, I hear a song and wonder-"Is Dennis doing the drums/signing or not?" Also, what is the deal with the song "Denny's drums"? I have heard that it wasn't even Dennis playing.

Also, I've asked this before, but do you plan on having a book signing again for the updated book? Will you please keep us informed on the plans? I HAVE to be there this time!!!

Looking forward to shaking your hand............

Donna

Hi Donna,
The list of Dennis BB's lead vocals is an easy one, it has appeared in other BB's related material...a few have erred in crediting DW for Hawaii and Catch a Wave...but other than that they have been relatively accurate. Try the thread on this board titled The Definitive Vocal Credits Thread...now THAT is THE most accurate place to find which songs DW sang on. I highly recommend it. The drumming credits are extremely hard to sort out, but people like Craig Slowinski have done a good job in bringing out the facts. Dennis tended to play the drums on more tracks and more hits than journalists have credited him for in the past. I will definitely have some updated info on this subject in the new book...but at this point I think a definitive list is still beyond my ability...maybe I can get Craig to put one together. If you haven't seen his website you should check it out...

Hopefully Craig could provide the same service for Carl's guitar work on BB recordings, please?

Thanks Jon, for taking the time to answer!!! You are the unending fountain of info on Dennis!!! I will take your suggestions and look to the thread and check Craig's site. Sometimes when I'm listening to a song, I want to hope I am listening to Dennis, but am not sure. Obviously certain albums like Pet Sounds, you know it is Hal playing. I guess down deep, us gals really want to feel we are listening to Dennis still to this day..... Diehard romanticism!!! Roll Eyes

P.S. I totally dismissed Andrew's wonderful site covering this whole question!!! Sorry AGD Cry
