I have read from a few idifferent books that Mike supposedly threw a chair at Brian during this concert. Is this true? Is it known why Mike did it? What song did it happen during? Is it audible on the existing audience recording?

I cannot hear it. The two stories are that either Mike threw the bench or the piano itself. I don't think he actually hit Brian but I think he shoved the object at him because he was staring off blankly.

I was actually listening to this very show a few minutes ago. I can hear a few "thuds" right after Lady Lynda, but the recording is quite "noisy" itself. In Brian's "autobiography", it says that Mike threw a chair at him because "He caught me playing a different song than them". I would take that with a very LARGE gain of salt, however.  Wink

The incident is mentioned by David Leaf in his revised book- he was at the show, so I guess it did happen.

Jerry Schilling, who was the BB's tour manager at the time, also relates the incident in his book, *Me and a Guy Named Elvis* (which I am currently reading). He describes it as: "[Brian] sat at his grand piano looking like he had tuned out the show entirely. That sight enraged Mike. He ran across the stage and gave the piano a hard shove, startling Brian and nearly rolling the piano into the audience."
