Always thought that their vocals and songwriting were always strong-The Turtles, aka Flo & Eddy, whatever-were they at any time approached or considered for Beach Boy membership-I mean, we had Glen, Bruce, Rickey, Blondie, The Captain and Toni, but what about these guys? Wouldn't they have been a natural? I've never seen anything in writing about it...just wonderin'- Smokin

I dunno.... I think Flo and Eddie would be too weird for the Beach Boys.  I mean after all, they did end up in Frank Zappa's band.

Zappa's band was a regular gig, and widely known through the years to be a place where musicians were paid a regular salary. Many weird and straight players alike found their way to and through that group for the creative and challenging music, as well as the paychecks.

And besides, too weird for the Beach Boys? Nervous breakdowns, Smile, Charles Manson, bickering and infighting, cousins suing cousins, cousins marrying cousins' children and bedroom-scene and ... etc. I don't think anyone is too weird for the Beach Boys.

Flo and Eddie were friends of David Marks.

I saw a show, I think in the early 2000's (check the setlist archive) at Fiesta Island where The Turtles (Flo & Eddie) opened for Mike & Bruce.  One of the funnest shows I have ever been to.  Very lax security...Mike & Bruce were high-fiving people in the audience (including myself) as we were leaning on the stage.

So they are at least acquainted now if they weren't before.
