I watched this very interesting and moving interview with the members of REM ahead of their induction to the Songwriters' Hall of Fame. I've been a fan of theirs for years, and they're known for their integrity and for being respectful to one another and to their legacy. They broke up years ago but continue to get along. Their drummer, Bill Berry, left many years before and they carried on without him only because he was adamant that they should. Bill gets quite emotional in this interview. I also love where, when asked if they will ever reunite, they all say no, and Peter Buck says, "It wouldn't be as good."

Yes indeed.  I will add the probably obvious in that they are big BB/Brian fans - their first post Berry LP "Up" has a pretty overt homage in "At My Most Beautiful" among others.  Peter Buck wrote the liner notes for "The Beach Boys Love You" as well I recall.
