Brian has passed away!!!!

Bit belated with my response, but on the night he passed I went out jamming at a local bar, and afterwards the only music me and my mates were listening to was Beach Boys music. We felt an inexplicable need that night to listen to The Beach Boys and go through some of our favourite deep cuts, which continued up to when we got home. Then, as soon as I walked in and checked my phone, the first thing I saw was the news that had just broken minutes prior of Brian’s passing. The first two songs that immediately came to my head when I read the news was Caroline, No and Surf’s Up…. you can imagine the absolute shock I was in at that moment.

Of all the celebrity deaths over the years that I’ve felt grief over, I must admit that Brian’s passing is the one that has hit hardest of all, and is the first who I have openly wept over. Brian Wilson’s music meant everything to me, and got me through thick and thin over the years. And I’ll forever be grateful that I got to see Brian live with The Beach Boys on the 50th anniversary tour in 2012.

Glad that Brian is now reunited and making up for lost time with Dennis and Carl in the afterlife. For the rest of us, his music will never be forgotten - and he has earned his reputation as one of history’s great musical geniuses.
